The Eternal City, with its rich history and timeless charm, played host to this year's International Congress of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery (ICSES). Former fellows from around the globe flocked to Rome, and it was a reunion for the books. Our dedicated team presented a staggering 16 papers over the course of four intense days, delving into the intricacies of shoulder surgery. The ICSES conference is renowned for its rigorous competition, and this year was no exception. We were in the running for the prestigious Didier Prize, a recognition that showcases the pinnacle of innovation and excellence in the field. While we narrowly missed out on the prize, the journey itself was a triumph.
As the conference came to a close, we seized the opportunity to celebrate our tireless group's achievements. The setting? A breathtaking rooftop bar in Rome, offering a panoramic view of the city as the sun dipped below the horizon. It was the perfect backdrop for camaraderie, laughter, and shared successes. The most rewarding aspect of ICSES wasn't just the research presented but the chance to meet other fellows who shared the same fervour for the intricacies of shoulder surgery. It was an invaluable opportunity to learn, collaborate, and grow as professionals.
In the end, while the Didier Prize eluded us this year, the memories we created and the connections we fostered were priceless. Rome's timeless allure, combined with the magic of a successful conference and the bonds of a passionate fellowship, made this ICSES gathering one for the books. Thank you to all the participants, organisers, and colleagues who made this ICSES conference an unforgettable experience. We look forward to continuing our journey in the world of shoulder surgery and to reunite again, wherever our shared passion takes us.
